Life doesn’t always go according to plan, and sometimes the road we thought we’d travel shifts beneath our feet. When I wrote this poem, Work in Progress, I was at a crossroads—a time of uncertainty and introspection. I had recently decided to pivot away from my dream of becoming a doctor, moved back home after years away, and was just beginning to understand the challenges of living with a chronic illness. This piece is a reflection of that moment, a snapshot of the hope I clung to as I navigated the unknown. It’s a testament to the resilience required to embrace life’s uncertainties while trusting in the process.

I’m on a quest to be the woman I want to be,
To become the person my Creator wants to see.
