Embracing Responsibility: The Power of Owning Your Journey
Book Credit: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson
Today’s post is inspired by my favorite self development book: “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” by Mark Manson. This book offers unconventional wisdom about finding meaning and happiness in life. It encourages readers to focus on what truly matters to them and let go of societal expectations and unimportant concerns. These concepts can challenge the most intense self-awareness warriors among us. For this reason I appreciate Manson's ode for encouraging us to question our existing beliefs and assess whether they align with our aspirations for our future selves. In essence, am I giving a f*ck about the right things?
Since reading “The Subtle Art” for the first time in 2020, one phrase from this book has stuck with me like Samwise Gamgee to Frodo Baggins. In chapter 5, when discussing “The Responsibility/Fault Fallacy”, Manson says:
“We are responsible for experiences that aren’t our fault all the time. This is part of life.”
